To all University Hall (Uni Hall) newcomers, we would like to wish you a very warm welcome. You will be joining a community renowned for its enthusiastic spirit, great facilities, and a food service envied by other halls.
All freshers will be welcomed to their new home by a mix of second, third, and fourth year students, as is the norm across the university. We are set back from the sports fields, on top of a small hill overlooking the North Haugh to the west of the town. Surrounded by streets that comprise some of the most peculiar and attractive palatial nineteenth century additions to the town, Uni Hall fits snugly into generous private grounds, shielded on all sides by greenery.
The more experienced residents will be happy to show you around the three buildings that comprise University Hall. And I will make a start. Wardlaw, the all girls wing, is the first building you will see and it stands out in the town for its resemblance to what could have been a castle built for royalty.
Next is Lumsden wing where students collect post, eat meals, and hear updates on Hall activities from members of the hall committee, a group that freshers all have the opportunity of joining.
Just past Lumsden is the third piece of University Hall, Old Wing. In Old Wing you will find our famous Vodka Bars, each with its own creative themed dress (Wild West, Bad Taste, Plastic Only, the list goes on…) as well as most of the private and public rooms that make up the hall.
Team spirit definitely thrives here, and there are many lively traditions in University Hall that range from Pub Crawls to Inter-hall sports and the glorious hall BBQ’s in our spacious garden. University Hall also sports a tennis court, the grounds great for football, rugby and frisbee, and there is of a great view of the sea.
