John Burnet Hall boasts both a beautiful exterior, a quirky and often times confusing interior and views of the sea and old course. It is the smallest Hall in St Andrews, and as such a student living there is able to get to know almost all the other students in Hall.

It is nearly impossible to feel lonely or homesick at John Burnet, when you can go and gossip in front hall, play games in west lounge or watch films in the TV room. Even if you decide to relax in your room it might not be long until some body comes to demand you join in a game of various sorts nearby.

John Burnet is in easy walking distance of all the lecture theatres and about 5-10 minutes walk from the centre of town. Even closer to the Hall is the beach, where the residents of the JBH often go for a relaxing walk, or maybe some more strenuous activities with whatever sports equipment they can lay their hands on! As a catered hall, meals are eaten together and after a while you will find that no matter where or who you sit with you will easily find debate, humour and usually some outlandish plan for a new hall pastime – and there are many to discover.

Along with the shared and single rooms of the main building of John Burnet is the Annex, with single en-suite rooms; although it is separate from the main building, it is no less sociable with tea parties in the kitchens that often end with beverages far less innocent. As John Burnet is such a small hall, it is able to have numerous hall events that are attended by JBH residence of every year.

These events can ranging from to going to the Hall's local pub, The Pilmour, for drinks and the occasional karaoke night, to the parties in Hall that take place almost every week.

John Burnet Hall is a fantastic place to live, because of its beautiful setting, amazing location, ridiculous social schedule (don't fear its not all mandatory), and its inescapable sense of camaraderie.
